I accidentally fell in love with kayaking at the age of 14. It was those sun-kissed summer days in the waters of the Petaluma River along with the friendly and fun-loving rowdy bunch of paddlers that got me. It still does get me. Days like those furthered me to go to a sum of three National Championships to compete.

I joined this club when I was 12 years old, and from then I have fallen in love with paddling. The RTR is like a second family to me and I am grateful to be part of the club. I am looking forward to the many more years of paddling with these amazing people.

From the minute I got into a racing kayak boat I knew it was my sport. I had been seeing the other kayakers on the petaluma river when I was outriggering. I started kayaking when I was 11 years old, and have been paddling for over a year. The team and community support each other and the coaches are some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have been paddling at small and biggish races close to Petaluma, The coaches do so much for us and I could not be more grateful for them. Paddling in all seasons, rain and sun, really give you a great experience. The Coaches don’t just help us with body building but also with our feelings. I hope to in a couple years race in the Nationals for kayak racing. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to be a part of The River Town Racers.

I got interested in sprint kayaking because my older sister, Leah, joined in 2018 and it looked like fun. The River Town Racers feels like a second family to me and everyone is just really nice to each other. I’m looking forward to becoming a Novice 1 soon!

I just joined the team in Summer 2020. I was so happy to find a new sport that I could continue to participate in during quarantine. I have enjoyed getting to know my teammates. Everyone is really nice and I always look forward to seeing them at practices. I’m excited to work hard and progress to the next level.

I joined RTR this past summer after having a great time in camp. I love to surf and sail so it has been fun to grow in another water sport. I enjoy the time on the water and the friendly and supportive group of coaches and paddlers. I am looking forward to racing and getting stronger
